Automatic L/D telephone exchange EWSD (Siemens) is the main communication center in the international and long distance network of the Sakhalin region. Long-distance telephone communication services are provided via 3085 channels including satellite ones (Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - Novosibirsk: 110 digital channels, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - Khabarovsk: 50 digital channels, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - Irkutsk^ 28 digital channels, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - Moskow: 58 digital channels, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - the Kuril islands: 66 analog channels). Quality of long distance and international communication improves every year to satisfy the customers demand for communication services of international standards.
Long distance and international communication can be provided to the customers as follows:
- automatic communication
- through an operator dialling 07 ("8-181" - in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk)
Additional long distance services through an operator
(to be paid)
- definite person is invited to receive a call;
- long distance call on a certain time;
- a called person is invited to have a long distance call by a telegram, etc.

Long distance and international calls can be provided to you in the communication bureaus of JSC Sakhalinsvyaz.
The Company provides its customers with the following services:
* Home Country Direct - Customers can make international calls to 25 countries. Payment is done either by the called person or in the country of destination (on debit and credit cards).
* Long distance collect call long distance call is made through the operator and the call is paid by the called person. Long distance call can be made to a home telephone number or to JSC Sakhalinsvyaz communication bureau. This service is available for long distance calls only in the Sakhalin region.
* Regional tall free telephone number - all long-distance calls incoming to such a telephone number are be paid by the owner of this telephone number according to JSC "Sakhalinsvyaz" long-distance tariffs. In other words for the calling person this service will be free. The service is be available only within the Sakhalin region.
* Service Telephone Cards
From April, 2000 inhabitants of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and its guests have a possibility to use the new JSC "Sakhalinsvyaz" service - the Service Telephone Cards with the help of which you can connect with any place in Russia and in the world from any telephone in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
Using PIN-code of a telephone card which is covered by a special strip you can make a long-distance or international call from the office or home telephone and from the street pay-phone even if this telephone is disconnected from "long-distance calls service".
The Service Telephone Cards tariffs corresponds with the tariffs for automatic long-distance and international dialing with all existing privileges and twenty-four-hour 25 % discount for long-distance calls on week-ends and holidays.
You can purchase the Service Telephone Cards in all service centers of JSC "Sakhalinsvyaz" in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk including the Service center (220, Lenin st.).
